Synopsis/Details
In the aftermath of the Chernobyl disaster, whispers of mutant wolves thriving in the irradiated wasteland catch the attention of a team of daring researchers. Eager to uncover the truth and potentially harness the creatures' biology for medical breakthroughs, they embark on a perilous journey into the heart of the exclusion zone. Led by Dr. Heath Sterling, a brilliant researcher, the team of six young researchers sneaks into the desolate city of Pripyat under the cloak of darkness. Their mission: to collect blood samples from the mutant wolves rumored to roam the abandoned streets possibly carrying a cure for cancer. However, upon their arrival, they are met with a grisly sight—the shredded remnants of a rival research team, a stark warning of the dangers lurking in the shadows. Undeterred by the ominous discovery, the researchers press on, setting up a makeshift base camp within the confines of an apartment complex. With bait and tranquilizer guns in hand, they venture into the eerie silence of the city, hoping to sedate and study the elusive mutants blood samples. But their plans take a sinister turn when they become the hunted. The researchers come face to face with creatures that defy explanation—hybrids of wolf and human, their eyes gleaming with predatory intelligence and standing almost 7' tall. In a desperate bid for survival, the team fights back against the relentless onslaught, but tragedy strikes as one of their own falls victim to the savage beasts. Driven by grief and fury, the survivors resolve to take the fight to the creatures' lair, a decision that will test their courage and determination to the limit. Armed with improvised weapons and fueled by a fierce determination to uncover the truth, they embark on a treacherous journey into the depths of the Chernobyl wasteland. As they confront the horrors that lurk within the shadows, the researchers soon realize that their mission is far from over. In a climactic showdown, they must confront not only the mutant wolves but also the dark secrets that lie in the ruins of Pripyat. But as they face the ultimate test of their strength and resolve, they are left to wonder—are they the hunters, or are they the prey?

The Writer: Gary Rose

I’m an optioned screenwriter who, in a previous life, served as a police detective, mastering the delicate art of negotiating hostage situations. Retirement led me down a different path—teaching and writing—a journey that began with my first non-fiction book, which became an Amazon best-seller. That success ignited my passion for storytelling and introduced the world to my indomitable protagonist, FBI agent Jeannie Loomis. Believing that the ends justify the means, Jeannie has become the heart of a gripping 16-novel thriller series. My historical fiction script The Beautiful Beast was selected as a quarter-finalist in the 2025 PAGE competition. The Phantom Train script was selected in 2024… Go to bio
