Synopsis/Details
In order to be close to his all-time favorite animals, the elephants, SKIP (11) takes on a summer job at the circus where he cleans the elephant stables. During a break, Skip falls asleep and starts communicating with an old abused circus elephant in his dream. After the elephant, SAMBA shares her tragic past, a deep emotional bond develops between the two. The plot thickens when Samba under-performs at the circus show and Skip learns that Samba shall be executed. He vows to rescue her and to bring her back home to the elephant kingdom in Africa. As all attempts to raise money fail and time is running out, Skip discovers Samba’s artistic flair for painting. As a team, the two practice and raise the money by selling Samba’s paintings. At the night of the rescue everything goes wrong, but with unexpected help, Skip and Samba soon sit in a military cargo plane to Kenya. Samba is set free, but the jubilant moment turns tragic when poachers appear and shoot her. The dying elephant correctly predicts that she will be reborn as the next elephant calf in Kenya and that Skip and her will together help elephants around the world.
