Die and live again

Richard (40) wakes up in a white room without knowing how he got there. From behind a glass wall, ANGELA tells Richard that he has died on Earth and now needs to confess all his sins in order to move on. First, Richard refuses to accept the information, but once he experiences flashbacks of a car accident and a tunnel with a bright light, he starts to believe the tragic truth. A parallel storyline follows Richard’s wife, MEGAN who converses with a psychologist about the insurmountable difficulties she experiences in her marriage with Richard. The psychologist offers a mind-blowing last solution and shows Megan how a car-simulator, combined with special effects, can implant vivid impressions of a car crash and a ‘near’ death experience into a sedated person’s subconscious. Now we know that Richard, an agnostic, was successfully tricked into believing that he was dead and we continue to witness his transformation into a human being with a deepened understanding of life, religion and even God. Richard leaves the white room through a tunnel and walks toward a bright light. Once he steps through the light, Richard finds himself in a sound stage, facing not only an applauding crew who is responsible for the set up, but also Megan who welcomes him to a new start.
