Synopsis/Details
Ghost of Thalassa is an action-packed thriller where the past refuses to stay buried. When a team of archaeologists unearths a long-lost Byzantine shipwreck in the Black Sea, they unwittingly disturb the final resting place of Constantine XI — the last emperor of the East Roman Empire (Byzantine Empire) — and remove the Hodegetria, a sacred icon believed to bear the first true image of Christ and lost during the fall of Constantinople. Revived in the modern world, Constantine is hellbent on reclaiming the icon, while a Greek official, a Greek-American archaeologist, and a Turkish detective try to stop him from reigniting an ancient war. They face ancient enemies and contemporary powers who also eagerly seek to claim the icon’s legendary power. As these forces collide in present-day Istanbul, an explosive conflict looms — one that could reignite centuries-old rivalries and reshape the geopolitical landscape. At its heart, Ghost of Thalassa is a story of redemption, legacy, and the enduring weight of history’s unresolved wars.
