Synopsis/Details: 

NASA and allied space agencies from the British Commonwealth of nations finish the building of the world's first space elevator to the amazement of the press and the public watching. The first launch does not go as planned when a technical glitch causes a runaway elevator. Compounding the problem is a mix of personalities and a mutually incomprehensible language that creates confusion that adds to the general chaos.
