"Sweet Nectar of the Gods" is based on the ancient Greek legend of the March of the Ten Thousand as told in Xenophon's "Anabasis". After fighting as mercenaries under a failed usurper for the Persian throne, the remaining 10,000 warriors from various parts of a disunited and dysfunctional Greece must fight together to not only survive, but escape the empire and return to their homeland. This particular part of the tale focuses on an incident towards the end of the two-year march where much of the force is mysteriously sickened by an unknown and devastating illness, complete with hallucinations and visions. It is up to the leaders to protect the vulnerable force with the remaining healthy warriors while their lone doctor works to find the cause and a possible cure.
