Synopsis/Details
An old Trini woman who dabbles in petty spells, Ms. Ofelia doesn't ask for much. Just a bit of money here and there - enough to feed her daughter and two grandchildren. But when money gets tight, temptation beckons... in the form of a magical wealth amulet, owned by local Magick dealer Nickolas. A man not to be reckoned with. As Ofelia discovers when she steals the talisman, bringing tragedy down on her family's heads. Fleeing her native country, Ms. Ofelia settles into a ghetto in Bronx, NY - guilt ridden and determined to hide away for whatever remains of her life. But plans change when she befriends Kesia (6) and Robbie (14) who live in her building. Forced to grow up fast, the siblings have no family to speak of - their drug dealing father's in jail for life. And their addicted mother, Tonya, is no use either. Attempting to provide for his sister, Robbie runs afoul of the local murderous gang... putting Kesia directly into the line of fire. Leaving Ofelia to make a choice. Stay hidden and isolated - or take up the same dark arts that killed her family, and fight for the unexpected family she has found.
