Synopsis/Details
NFT - (Horror) - A desperate college student puts shares of his soul up as NFTs. When they start to sell, who will collect?
A sophomore in college, poor Cullen’s at the end of his rope. He’s broken up with the love of his life, Samantha. His parents are getting divorced. His mother’s manic depression is acting up, his father’s MIA and Cullen’s scholarship’s gone bust. Emotionally and financially, Cullen’s about to get kicked to the curb. His future in jeopardy, Cullen has nowhere else to turn.
Other than the dark web, of course. Desperate to try anything, Cullen puts three “shares” of his soul up for sale on an anonymous NFT auction site. And is shocked when the first one sells for $10,000!
His moment of triumph’s marred by the sudden appearance of an old, strange man at his dorm door. The creepy visitor informs Cullen and roommate Berger that he’s the purchaser of the NFT. Ignoring questions of how he tracked Cullen down, the old man touches the teen’s face – triggering dark, dreamlike visions. As Cullen swoons, the old man… vanishes.
Though now troubled his mother’s mental illness may have come home to roost, Cullen convinces Sam to join him in a celebratory dinner – which is soon ruined by hallucinations, too.
After the second NFT is purchased by the same “mystery” patron, things quickly veer from unsettling to far worse. Attempting to follow the stranger, Berger disappears. An increasingly paranoid Cullen pursues a lead to the bad part of town, and a gray market hacker “Mr. Wright” who seems to have connections to the old man. With $10K and some sweet talking, maybe Wright can be bribed to cancel the last NFT sale before the old man – whatever he is - comes to Cullen to collect?
As the bodies and mystery pile up, NFT weaves a bloody, supernatural tale of cyberpunk meets old world mythos: a hybrid horror for the modern world.
