Synopsis/Details
DANI (mid-30s) is slowly piecing her life back together after the sudden death of her husband, focused on creating a sense of normalcy for her six-year-old daughter, EVA. With the support of her younger partner, ALEX (mid-20s), things are finally beginning to feel safe—until a routine birthday party ends in tragedy.
During the celebration, Eva suffers a violent allergic reaction from a bee sting. Rushed to the emergency room, Dani watches helplessly as her daughter flatlines. Then—just as the doctors call time—Eva’s heart starts beating again.
At first, Dani believes she’s been given a second chance. But soon after they return home, Eva begins to change. Once sweet and full of life, she becomes distant, volatile, and coldly cruel. Animals flee from her. People get hurt. And Dani can’t shake the growing certainty that what came back isn’t entirely human.
As the darkness surrounding Eva deepens, Dani is forced to face an unthinkable truth: her daughter may have died in that hospital—and something else returned wearing her face. Now, to protect the people she loves, Dani must make a harrowing decision that no mother should ever have to face.
