Synopsis/Details
NOLAN (30s), a grief-stricken ex cop, has lost everything as the result of a random act of violence – his wife and child, his job and his memory. At the end of his rope and possibly his sanity as well, it would seem he has nothing left to lose. But there might be one thing, he just doesn’t know it yet.
Soon after recovering from a gunshot wound to the head, Nolan begins having terrifying dreams, flashbacks and even hallucinations. Among other frightening images, he sees a YOUNG WOMAN (20s) burn to death in a house fire.
He entrusts his psychiatrist brother, JAMES (40s), with the task of trying to help him determine the meaning of the dreams. James believes they are not dreams at all, but lost memories fighting their way to the surface.
Nolan turns up at the home of the woman he saw in the fire. There he realizes that the fire has already occurred and the woman has perished. A wary neighbor offers very little information on the tragedy, but provides a newspaper article that reveals the fire was intentionally set.
Still reeling from this shocking revelation, Nolan has another dream. This one involves the hit and run death of a LITTLE GIRL (6). Now he faces a difficult decision – do nothing and let nature take its course, or try and prevent the death from occurring.
Before he has time to decide, he has a third dream, this one foreseeing the death of a woman he recognizes. ANNAVAY (30s) is a friend of his late wife, JODY (30s), and, it seems, maybe a little more. Although Nolan can barely remember her, he decides he will not lose another person he cares about.
He pays Annavay a visit with the intention of delivering the warning, but as soon as he looks into her eyes, he knows he can’t do it. Annavay invites him home for dinner where he meets her overbearing husband, ROBERT (30s) who is instantly suspicious of Nolan and his intentions toward his wife.
Still plagued by the dreams and hallucinations, the Little Girl from his dream appears to him one night and leads him to the scene of a gruesome accident where she has been struck and killed in a hit and run collision. There Nolan makes a startling discovery. The mother of the Little Girl knows him. This is later clarified when his ex-partner, BENSON (40s), explains that the fathers of the Little Girl and Young Woman were the same men that opened fire on his family, killing his wife and daughter. It seems their deaths were not accidents and that whoever committed the heinous crimes was seeking revenge.
Nolan immediately becomes the prime suspect and is warned to go on the run by Benson, advice that is vehemently disputed by James. James reveals to Nolan that Benson was having an affair with his wife and that neither he nor his advice can be trusted.
Nolan’s desire to protect Annavay supersedes his concern for his own well-being as he convinces her to go away with him in the guise of helping him recover his lost memories. As they slowly begin to rekindle the romance between them, Nolan experiences more flashes from his past that bring to light an alarming truth—either he commited these heinous murders to take revenge on the men who stripped him of everything or he’s been set up by one of the few people he thought he could trust.
