Synopsis/Details
At the start of an Egyptian desert rally, Jenkins receives an update from his navigator, Lew, on his plan to sabotage his rival’s buggy and make it look like an accident. He then informs Lew that they will take a shortcut through the valley as he has removed the tracking device from the vehicle. The previous day, the drivers visited an ancient burial chamber and were told of the Egyptian underworld, a terrifying valley beyond the mountains, and how only the pure of heart could hope to escape Ammit, the devourer of souls. Jenkins was unimpressed. The race begins, and after passing his rival’s disabled buggy, Jenkins steers through a narrow gap in a rocky plateau and straight into a sandstorm. They emerge in a bare and barren land with volcanic shores stretching as far as the eye can see. A battered man in the simple loin cloth of an ancient Egyptian slave runs towards them, pleading for help. Jenkins refuses to slow down, and after rounding a bend, they are surrounded by horde of decaying slaves, led by a Pharaoh. The horde is desperate to escape the manned, crocodile-headed Ammit that is slicing through them. After a desperate chase atop a bottomless cliff, Amit knocks the buggy to the edge. Lew is desperate to flee on foot, but Jenkins refuses to forfeit the race, and they plummet into the abyss. Their buggy emerges from out of the sandstorm and crosses the rally finish line in first place. As he gazes at the lifeless, mummified faces of Jenkins and Lew, Jenkins’ rival knows he would risk anything to win, even his soul!
