Synopsis/Details
CIMPLE is a visceral crime thriller that explores the fatal consequences of toxic masculinity and betrayal in urban America. The story follows three interconnected characters whose greed and manipulation lead to their mutual destruction. We enter the grimy world of Darryl, a narcissistic small-time dealer who psychologically abuses his girlfriend Sharice while lounging in his basement with best friend Ryan. What appears to be a typical night of gaming and substance abuse quickly reveals deeper power dynamics and hidden agendas. The facade crumbles when Ryan reveals his true intentions, holding Darryl at gunpoint to rob his safe. We learn that Ryan has been manipulating both Darryl and Sharice, using her to gain access to Darryl's operation. The friendship dissolves into violence as Ryan executes Darryl after discovering Sharice knows the safe combination. In a shocking twist, Sharice emerges as the true mastermind, killing Ryan and claiming the money and drugs. However, her victory is short-lived as Gnarly, a mysterious fourth player, eliminates her with a shotgun blast. The film ends with Gnarly collecting the spoils, revealing the entire scenario was orchestrated by an unseen puppet master.
