Synopsis/Details
Title: REBEL MOUNTAIN Written by: Curt Sell Category: Feature Genre: Western A wide-eyed farm boy and a precocious teenage girl become unlikely heroes as they lead a daring raid to expose the ruthless Confederate Colonel’s secret gold mining operation and Rebel Mountain Railroad hidden in the California hills, risking everything to stop his plans and save the country. Rebel Mountain is an action-adventure Western for general audiences. STORY: Humble young farmer Antonio Rada joins his uncle on a trip to Baja, California, to sell a map leading to a secret mountain where Confederates mine gold to fund the Civil War. When the vicious Colonel Stalker attacks their speeding train, Antonio and his uncle jump off, inspiring Emily Hay, the Secretary of Education’s daughter, and her governess Hattie to follow. Unbeknownst to Antonio, Emily holds the precious map hidden in her poetry book after her father slipped it to her just before his capture. The group regroups at Antonio’s family vineyard in San Diego, but Antonio initially refuses to help Emily alert the Union about Rebel Mountain. After Confederate soldiers destroy the vineyard, leaving Antonio homeless, he reluctantly joins the quest to rescue Emily’s father. They hire wagon driver Cal Flint and are guided by Lone Coyote, an old Native American tracker, who trains Antonio and Emily in survival and combat skills as they journey through dangerous territory. Upon discovering a destroyed Union outpost, the group decides to confront the Confederates at Rebel Mountain. Lone Coyote sacrifices himself to distract Colonel Stalker, allowing the others to free the Secretary and the enslaved miners. Antonio, using his newfound skills, leads the Union soldiers through the mines and sets off a massive explosion that collapses the mountain, sabotaging the Confederate operations. The team is later honored by President Lincoln, each receiving the Medal of Honor for their bravery in saving the Union cause.
