Synopsis/Details
Darius Ross, a 40-something artist, and his wife Celeste, a successful PR professional, feel disconnected from their marriage and their lives. Seeking excitement, Celeste, on the advice of her friend Soo-jin, creates a dating app profile using the prompt, "Do you like Piña Coladas?" Unbeknownst to her, Darius, also disillusioned, turns to the same app and stumbles upon her profile, failing to recognize her. They begin exchanging messages, unaware that they are reigniting their own romance.
As Darius and Celeste rediscover what they once loved about each other through their anonymous exchanges, Darius wrestles with guilt, questioning whether this new “fling” is a betrayal. He avoids the decision to invest his emotions in a rescue kitten instead. At the same time, Celeste faces her dissatisfaction with her marriage and life. With the support of new friends Rafael and Jef, Darius finds comfort in painting and surfing, gradually opening up emotionally and confronting his grief, while Celeste navigates the pressures of her career and considers the future of their relationship.
When they finally arrange to meet in person, Darius and Celeste are shocked to realize they have been unknowingly falling for each other all along. This leads to a heated argument, but ultimately, they confront their issues and choose to rebuild their marriage. The story closes on a hopeful note, with the couple sitting hand-in-hand on a tropical beach at sunset, sharing piña coladas, ready to start anew.
