Title: THE MYSTERIOUS STRANGER Written by: Curt Sell Category: Feature Genre: Fantasy/Drama Striving to befriend an alluring angel, Teodoro, a simple adolescent from colonial Mexico, learns the hard lesson that all that glitters is not gold in this adaptation of Mark Twain’s final novel. Join the trio of three young boys as they adventure with the cunning angel Satán in this fantasy feature. STORY: In 1547, in the new city of Guadalajara, Mexico, three young boys—Teodoro, Nicolás, and Esteban—live contented, uncomplicated lives. The story unfolds through Teodoro's perspective, set in a village blossoming into a colonial hub with intriguing characters like Padre Pedro, his niece Margarita, and a crafty astrologer. Their simple existence is disrupted when a striking teenage boy named Satán mysteriously arrives, first appearing to the boys. Claiming to be an angel and nephew of the infamous fallen angel, Satán dazzles them with his supernatural powers and quickly becomes the talk of the town. Of his many abilities, he boasts the capacity to foresee future events, unveiling a series of impending misfortunes he calls blessings that affect those close to the boys. Initially skeptical, the boys' doubts are shattered when one of his predictions tragically comes true. As Satán's ominous prophecies unfold, the boys beg for his help. He intervenes, but in an unsettling, detached manner, abruptly ending Nicolás's life under the guise of mercy. Through Satán’s magic, the boys witness a world consumed by religious fanaticism, witch trials, and death, both in Guadalajara and beyond. Eventually, Satán vanishes, leaving Teodoro with a cryptic proclamation that shatters his beliefs. He declares there is no God, no heaven or hell, and no real life—only a grotesque dream in which Teodoro is a lonely thought adrift in an empty void of eternity.
