Synopsis/Details
The Epoch Theater, once a beacon of grand performances, now sits in disrepair, awaiting demolition. Ben Butler, a shy 14-year-old with stage fright, arrives with his grandfather, Clive, the theater’s new night watchman. But the Epoch is far from empty -- its stage is still home to a band of long-forgotten ghostly entertainers who refuse to move on. Among them are Dame Faye Finch, a dramatic stage star searching for her “children,” the jazz queen Viola Abbott, the bumbling Lumpy, and the self-absorbed Sir Ivan Frothmire, a ham of Shakespearean proportions. But their beloved haunt is at risk -- ruthless developer Marvin Zimmer plans to demolish it for a parking garage. With only weeks until destruction, the ghosts hatch a plan: stage the greatest comeback performance of the afterlife and raise enough money to buy the theater themselves. As Ben trains for his school’s Romeo and Juliet audition, Frothmire secretly possesses him to improve his acting. But when Ben discovers the truth, he rejects Frothmire’s help -- until a last-minute revelation: Dame Faye’s “children” were actually four massive diamonds hidden inside the theater! With Zimmer swinging the wrecking ball himself, the ghosts and Ben race against time to stop him, proving that some stages are meant to be eternal. With dazzling song-and-dance numbers, hilarious supernatural antics, and a heartfelt message about legacy and courage, SHOWGHOSTS is a spectacular, spooky, and side-splittingly fun musical for all ages.
