Shutter Island meets IT in this terrifying dream-like psychological horror. When a travelling circus comes to town, Paige Bishop, a teenage girl with a diagnosed fear of clowns begins seeing Tulips the Clown everywhere she goes. Convinced he is nothing more than a figment of her imagination, Paige pushes Tulips to the back of her mind and prepares for a night of babysitting her younger siblings. Even better, she hopes to have her boyfriend and a few friends over to make the night a little more fun. Unfortunately for her friends, Tulips is far from imaginary, and one by one kills them off using increasingly grotesque and morbidly humorous techniques until only Paige and her siblings remain. Paige is forced to face off against her greatest fear and fight the killer clown in order to save her family, but finds her efforts thwarted, and thwarted again, and again, as if it were all a terrible dream. In a psych ward, doctors observe Paige, strapped down to a hospital bed and writhing in agony - forced to relive her nightmare forever.
Coverage by "Screenplay Gurus" - "The macabre TULIPS is a horror story with nail-biting tension, scares, thrills and a dash of laughs. Based on the Clown Statue Urban Legend, the story finds its own level and delivers the goods right up to the horrifying twist ending.
This is a well-written script with believable characters and dialogue in realistic situations. It is a worthy addition to the Teen Scream sub-genre." Sept. 30, 2018
