Based On:
Inspired by an urban legend
In a night of sheer terror, a teenager and her younger brother and sister desperately battle a deadly, psychotic, but always happy clown, who has followed them home from the circus.

PAIGE BISHOP (17) brings her brother LOGAN (11) and sister ANGELA (10) to wander the fairgrounds of a traveling circus in present day upstate New York. Although diagnosed at an early age with a fear of clowns, Paige soldiers onward through the jovial crowd avoiding eye contact with anything in white make-up and oversized shoes. Her glance eventually falls upon Tulips, a clown staring menacingly back at her from across the midway. Consumed with dizziness and nauseating panic, she hurries home with her siblings.

When her parents announce that she must cancel her date with her boyfriend, BRIAN DRISCOLL (17), to babysit the children that night, Paige secretly plans to invite him in for the evening instead. After the parents leave, her best friend, CILLA KENT (17), calls to invite herself over with her date, MACK DOWNING (17). As Paige protests she hears a noise from the basement. She discovers the bulkhead door has been opened and runs back upstairs to find the terrifying silhouette of Tulips, frozen in place, in her parents' bedroom. She runs out to check on the sleeping children but returns to find the clown gone. In a night of horror, Paige fights off the grotesque clown but is overtaken with a blow to the head, and awakens to find the children missing.

Brian, Cilla and Mack arrive to find Paige at the door with an unseen Tulips holding a gun to her head. She calmly instructs her friends to go home and closes the door. Brian catches a glimpse of Tulips through a window and decides that Paige is in trouble. They attempt a rescue, but Tulips slays all three with cunning, sometime humorous methods.

Paige escapes into the woods with Tulips close behind her. He warns her that her brother and sister will run out of air and that she best give up "so I can kill you and be on my way!” An idea sends her down the driveway towards the street where Tulips is dragging the kids through the woods towards his car. Paige springs up and strikes Tulips with a heavy branch. He falls and she strikes again, then takes the kids back to the house. From deep in the woods she hears the toy horn of the clown - "BEEPA-BEEPA!" Paige and the kids freeze with fear. She suddenly swoons into a crazed fit, writhing and screaming.
In a hospital bed, three physicians are observing Paige, sedated and hallucinating, the sole survivor of the home invasion by the killer clown. Doctors Mack, Brian and Cilla, in white lab coats, are baffled by her recurring nightmares--each scenario with a different outcome for her, the children, and the elusive clown, Tulips.

All Accolades & Coverage:

Coverage by "Screenplay Gurus" - "The macabre TULIPS is a horror story with nail-biting tension, scares, thrills and a dash of laughs. Based on the Clown Statue Urban Legend, the story finds its own level and delivers the goods right up to the horrifying twist ending.
This is a well-written script with believable characters and dialogue in realistic situations. It is a worthy addition to the Teen Scream sub-genre." Sept. 30, 2018
