Synopsis/Details

When Brooke Copley, a struggling bookstore owner, receives an eviction notice just days before Christmas, her world begins to unravel. But everything changes when Hugh Chatwin, a charming Englishman, brings her a rare, first-edition copy of A Christmas Carol — and she makes the mistake of reading it in one sitting.

That night, characters from Dickens’s classic come to life in her living room: Old Scrooge, Young Scrooge, Belle, Tiny Tim, and the Ghost of Christmas Present. They’ve been magically summoned into the modern world and insist they must stay until Christmas Eve — or risk disrupting the story forever.

Their 19th-century ways soon spark chaos in the small town, from diner mishaps to theatrical mix-ups and a showdown with social services. As Brooke struggles to keep her life together, the characters begin to help in unexpected ways — confronting a miserly banker, rescuing Tiny Tim, and reminding Brooke why she fell in love with books in the first place.

With the clock ticking, the characters must return to the book before they’re discovered — or lost to time. Blending magical realism with heartfelt holiday charm, The Dickens You Say is a warm, witty tale of second chances, literary magic, and the true spirit of Christmas.
