Synopsis/Details
Sent to get a switch for a beating, a boy is surprised to converse with a tree. The tree urges him to behave so there will be no need for switches. Its limbs are getting pretty bare. The boy says that he tries, but that his little brother gets him so mad. The tree tells the boy that his brother is only a baby. It won't always be that way. When the boy decides that he can't behave long enough or well enough to suit his parents, the tree severs a limb onto his head - knocking him out. Soon, with the rustling of leaves, the tree trades consciousnesses with the boy. He knows how to behave, and it will be great to be human! As the tree leaves in its new body, he plucks a switch from the tree for what will be his last punishment. Yes, to be in the world of man, this "switch" he can live with.
