TheBlackList on 'Android Awakening':
The script flows and reads well. The action lines are succinct and are clear in their descriptions (and the scenes are tight). The story is enjoyable, with a strong sense of pacing overall, and the script successfully uses humor to tonally release tension following dark and cerebral (horror) scenes. The opening scene is particularly gripping, as are the action-packed, high-intensity, emotional exorcisms and action sequences involving possessed androids.
The story utilizes an audience’s pre-existing familiarities both with the horror trope of demonic possessions and artificial intelligence as depicted in media to pose an age-old question – Can A.I. have a soul? What results is a unique mashing of two tropes that largely succeeds as both believable and prescient, given current conversations around A.I.
