TheBlackList on 'The Adventures of Flexy':
The screenplay strikes a really fun and irreverent comedic tone while delivering some high octane effects-driven action. It's a bold idea that harkens back to blockbusters of old, marrying a sense of nostalgia with the capabilities of modern visual effects to create something entirely original. An audience very quickly understands the stable paternal role Flexy plays in Devon's life and the subsequent conflict of the show's impending cancellation. Furthermore, the premise is simply awesome wish fulfillment for its adolescent audience. Natalie's inability to let go of her son after losing her husband to war offers a four-quadrant type appeal for adult audiences as well.
