Florence Henderson, a package delivery driver, hates Christmas because his hippy parents never celebrated the holiday so he never got any presents when he was a kid. He despises the month of December when he has to deliver Christmas packages to everyone. His best friend is his cranky 90 year old neighbor, Walt, who has never met his grandkids because his daughter married an actual clown and he has a fear of them. On the first day of the Christmas season, Florence delivers packages to a bunch of crazy people, and, on his final delivery of the awful day, he delivers a package to a Christmas loving orphanage worker named Jill Claus. She celebrates Christmas all year, and had her last name changed to Claus. Florence immediately hates her. Her goal after meeting Christmas hating Florence is to make him like Christmas as much as she does. She calls Florence’s boss at the package delivery company and asks him to make Florence deliver packages to the orphanage everyday so she can turn him into a Christmas lover. Florence’s boss, who hates him, gladly agrees. Florence also meets Jill’s neighbors Wesley James, an African American actor and little person, and his wife Amanda, a WNBA basketball player. Florence always says the wrong things to Wesley because he wants him to like him. Jill gets tickets to one of Amanda’s games and makes Florence go with her, Wesley, and a sarcastic ten year old orphan named Debbie. One day, an overconfident Florence bets Debbie he can beat her in a game of one on one basketball. If Debbie wins, she gets to spend the weekend at Florence’s house. If she loses, she has to stop calling Florence, “Flo,” like the waitress on the tv show, Alice. Debbie beats Florence eleven to nothing in basketball and gets to spend the weekend with Florence. During this time, Florence and Jill start dating and fall in love. About a week before Christmas while Florence has a long day at work, Jill, all her orphanage co-workers, Debbie, and Walt secretly decorate Florence’s house for Christmas. When Florence gets home, he is upset that Jill has done this because he still hates Christmas. He breaks up with Jill. A depressed Florence doesn’t show up for work and gets fired. On Christmas Eve, Walt gets Florence to go to the orphanage and make up with Jill. When he gets to the orphanage, the police are there because all of the orphanage’s Christmas presents and the Christmas presents for other orphanages in southern California have been stolen. A desperate Jill and Florence come up with a plan to break into a closed giant toy store and buy all of the presents they need using the self checkout. Wesley and Amanda come and Wesley pays for the rest of the toys when jill and Florence’s credit cards max out. Florence gets ten of his package delivery driver friends to deliver the packages to the orphanages. On Christmas day, the orphans get all their presents. Walt’s estranged daughter and his three granddaughters show up at his house for Christmas because Florence sent them plane tickets. Back at the orphanage, Florence’s present to Debbie is a form for him to be her foster parent, and he gives Jill an engagement ring and asks her to marry him. She agrees, and it’s the best Christmas ever!
