Well done Teresa. That is a good market segment as well. If you don't have a rep for it, I would find ten producers of film in that market and reach out. Always like shooting in the dark. But being such a well defined market all your targets are in a single room.
Saw that Barry John Terb...who had commented on this thread and invited others to read his work, has his account locked. When I click on his profile, it says access denied? Why would this happen?
Forgot to mention. I got my first short script picked up by a filmmaker right here on ScriptRevolution. They start filming in November. I'm really looking forward to it. The more time that passes, the more I think just putting my scripts on this website is enough to at least get started.
Nice job, Lily! I had a producer contact me through here as well. We discussed his plans for a horror anthology. He asked me to write a treatment for one of the segments and a two-page sample. Just waiting to hear back from him if he liked it or not.
Also, today I made the quarterfinals for Stage32's Search for New Blood contest. I had a really bad run this summer, not placing in Page, Script Pipeline, Scriptapalooza, or Austin. This peps me up a bit, but I have to say, if this producer hires (and pays) me that'll beat any contest win!
Julian, that's awesome! It's wonderful when someone contacts me here and says they like what I wrote. Best of luck with the New Blood contest. I considered entering this year but decided not for this script. Maybe in the future for another script.
Well done Lily. For me October is time to get the swimming pool ready. Last year a suburb two over (so 15mile or so) was the hottest place on earth at 132deg in your terms.
This years looks just as bad. Getting geared up to hide inside and write.
So here's another Script Revolution success. I'll be working with a director who'd found my script on this site. This is the fourth time in four years I've drawn interest from producers and/or directors on this particular script, and twice it was via SR. After some tweaks to the script and the director finishing up his current project, which wraps in late December, he'll be pitching production houses with it. Let's hope fourth time's the charm ...
I have a youtube channel as many of you know. I promote SR at the end of every episode. Here is why.
1) If we get more people here, it will become the most valuable place for producers and buyers to visit. Benefit to me (all of us as well).
2) As it is free (pay by choice) no one can compete on price. So costly services like Inktip will dry up. Forcing more people here, producers to follow.
3) As more people join, ideas, services and improvement will be generated. Again great for all of us.
The point I am making (besides the shameless self promotion) is that we should at every opportunity talk about our success and make sure that people see the direct connect to SR. This grows SR and therefore increase our own personal visibility. We want SR to be seen to be the first choice in people's minds. Not the Blacklist, Inktip or any number of other sites.
This is just a thought and a tactic I am employing. Thought I'd share.
Hi, Craig! Checking out your channel and will subscribe. I've only just begun, but I find the audio levels way too low. Can you drive those up a bit for future posts?
Eric: Congrats to you! How exciting! There's obviously something special about this script. Fingers crossed that the fourth time is indeed the charm. Keep us posted! (And super cool that it was found on Script Revolution--again.)
Craig: I completely agree. I've truly enjoyed my eight months on this platform, and hearing about others finding success on SR is like an internal fist pump. Besides, when a person takes the time/makes the investment to provide a free site to help fellow artists, members should, at the very least, help promote it.
Being a "Rockstar" member by offering financial support is another obvious way to not only help sustain this platform, but to help it grow. (It also shows appreciation. I'm a big believer in gratitude.) I will continue to plug Script Revolution as the opportunities arise.
Craig, if you don't know of it, you can try Audacity, It's freeware, surprisingly intuitive, a small program. As a guess, the low pass filter will probably help. That way, you'll only need to re-upload the videos.,
Though personally, I had no problems with the captions. Thank you for captioning your videos. Too many fail to do that.
I used Audacity a few years back for a podcast. I have every toy known to man, I got undone by my own laziness. I was hoping for a quick production process. I bought a Rode Vlogger mic in hope to avoid extra work. But I think I am have to just do a full job.
My future Oscar acceptance speech will either include a Script Revolution t-shirt or a rabbit masquerade mask. Haven't 100% decided. (Preemptive disclaimer: I feel that to wear both might be a little self-indulgent)
If a man can't wear a Script Revolution t-shirt and a rabbit masquerade mask to accept an Oscar then when can he? Aren't these the very goals we are striving for?
Throw in a black satin dress and toy machine gun with that rabbit masquerade mask and I am so there for the photo op. I'll add add a sign that reads "ScriptRevolution approved."
Congratulations to all . Such a good feeling when you get a little win or a break. Well done all!
FINALLY finished with my Faith-based feature. Now preparing this creation for introduction to the world.
Next!

Congrats Lily!
Thanks Derek and Andrea! I will definitely keep everyone updated, probably in November.
exciting news! congrats!

I love this month. I love October and Halloween and all things autumn.
Another short script of mine has been picked up by a ScriptRev member.
Nice goin' Lily!

I do like the fact we are an international mob.
Thanks. Eric!
Craig, oh right, I'm in the opposite season from you. So it's messy spring for you now?
Wow, Lily, you’re on a roll! So happy for you!
Thanks, Andrea!

I'll look you up!! YouTube is our favorite channel.
Yes, absolutely, the more done to promote SR, the better for everyone. It would be great to be seen as the go to place for indie filmmakers.

Hi Gary, yeah realised that recently.
I got a microphone for that now. I may go back and see if I can fix it without send Youtube into a spin.
Thank you for viewing them.

CJ - Hm. Why be a trailblazer when one could be a freewayblazer? Good call!
