Good luck, Barry. Nashville is likely the closest film festival to me geographically and I'd meant to enter a contest there this year, but somehow the dates slipped me by.

Thank's Eric. And congratulation to another SR member I saw on the list, Mark Renshaw, with TWO placings.

Whatever suits you, Elisabeth. Did Script Revolution have anything to do with this success story? If so, I can post news about it.

Hi CJ,

It was discovered on SS a while back, probably before I joined SR. It was read by an actor Bruno Iannone and he loved it and has been pestering his producer friend to have a look at it. He has already picked the character he wants to represent.

They found my details on IMDb, as I had not updated my contact info SS for a while.

Would have loved for it to be discovered on SR.

Wow Elisabeth! That's brilliant. Well done again. Simply Scripts is a great resource and Don Boose's efforts there certainly inspired me to build this platform.

Finished revising my dual comedy specs Bad Foodie 1 & 2. A bawdy two-part satire full of heart, hijinks, & Pop Culture references galore. For fans of Bad Santa, The Office, and Anthony Bourdain. Never pitched or queried before, so wish me luck. I had fun writing it. So, I got that going for me-- which is nice.

I love this inspiring thread. Way to build each other up! Congrats to all the successes above!

I finally have something exciting to post here too ;) One of my comedy features, Crazy Athol, has gained some traction recently with some attachments. Also I found out it placed as a Quarterfinalist in the Emerging Screenwriters Comp and just found out I'm currently a finalist in the Bigfoot Script Challenge (NW based in case the Bigfoot theme didn't clue you in!). Okay, done tooting my horn.

Have a great night, fellow writers!

Congrats everyone!

Cannon - I entered the BF contest years ago with my first script. Didn't place in it then, but we'll just say that the politics in that dystopian Seattle screenplay might be too present-tense now to be deemed sci-fi... so that's what I wiggle my ears to. lol Hope you do (even) well(er) tho since you seem great!

Thanks, fellow writer friends!

Derek, I know exactly what you mean about Seattle. Are you from the Seattle area? I read your bio (I'm a Christian too! and on that note, you can join some bible studies online with Suzy and Huntington Sachs through the Christian Entertainment Guild). Anyhow, I grew up over there and could leave my keys in the car with no problems and now you can't even stop at a stop light without a potential smash n grab!

Thankfully, I landed in North Idaho. We're salty here, but we're not lighting stuff on fire! My dad is part of the historic/iconic Seattle organization Seattle Seafair Pirates (not to mention worked at Boeing, those are 2 of the most Seattle things - before Microsoft anyway) and he hates going back for events and the Pirates do charity work but also are about drunken debauchery...it's not the same city I grew up in. But I was pleased to see that Snohomish County (just one county north, where I went to HS) is still decent, way more crowded, but still nice.

Anyhow, back to the topic at hand...contests. I've been optioned in the past and published, but the contests I've never been able to crack. So yay!

Thanks for the kind words!

Keep up the great work, everyone! Persistence pays off! Been doing this 30 years and finally seeing the fruits of my labor. Optioned my story "Dig Me No Grave" as a result of being listed on Script Revolution (Also a PAGE quarterfinalist) and production should begin Q4 or first quarter 2022.

Also have actors attached to my story, "Red Scarlett" and my partner is currently location scouting for the proof of concept shoot. We're also very close to attaching a director/producer.

Keep writing, but by all means, keep reading. Produced and unproduced. I read many scripts here on Script Revolution and I do notice that more emphasis needs to be placed on simply learning how a script is structured. It's not a novel, but I see many who over wright scenes and dialogue. Brevity is ever so important in this biz and if your script is bloated with narrative and exposition, readers won't make it past page 1. Format is another discussion altogether.

Some writers of note, who really have their acts together here on SR are Julian Martin and Rodriguez Fruitbat. There are more and I may start a review thread of my own as there are some really great writers out there, but there are many more who need a little help. If you do read, nothing wrong with complimenting, taking notes and sharing your thoughts, and passing them onto the writer. I have met some wonderful people this way. Help each other to get ahead of the game!

Enjoy!

Cannon:  Congratulations to you!  Attachments?  That's awesome!  To find out you're a Finalist in any competition is definitely exciting, too!  I also placed as a Quarterfinalist in the Emerging Screenwriters competition for my drama, "Team Emma."  Good luck!

David:  I love seeing your name when I get updated contest results!  I was also a quarterfinalist in Scriptapalooza for "Team Emma."  You have many announcements to look forward to with "Baggage."  Page--especially fantastic!  Fingers crossed for you!

Gary:  I enjoy reading success stories like this.  After 30 years, you are certainly the definition of persistence!  It gives me hope.  "If you do read, nothing wrong with complimenting, taking notes and sharing your thoughts, and passing them onto the writer."  Yes, one hundred times, YES!  I'm always super appreciative when people take the time to do this.  I even make it clear in my profile that it's welcome.  There is always a nugget that will land and can only help you improve your script.  Another kind person on this platform has been quite generous with his time, and I'm so grateful.  He knows who he is! :)

Another contest in which I just made the Quarterfinals is the Chicago Screenplay Awards, for my comedy "Parallel Proposals."  It's a smaller contest, but since it's the closest to where I live--and that script is set there--I thought I'd give it a shot.  They also provide free feedback, which has been helpful.

Let's keep celebrating our "wins"!
